I got woken up earlier than I would have liked by a ridiculous amount of sirens going off from fire engines, police cars, and other service vehicles heralding the Braintree 4th of July parade. The sirens were followed by a few marching bands that seriously looked like pizza delivery guys. It was a short parade, and a semi-amusing way to start the day.
We walked to the dentist's office where I got my teeth cleaned. The dental hygienist said I should get one of those electric toothbrushes since it will help to clean the food particles out of some of the holes I have in my teeth. I figure I can look into that, but they still aren't going to get me flossing.
My mouth felt all weird up until like ten minutes ago, which made the wandering around Marshalls that we did after my appointment funny. I got new brown sandals since the only ones I had were glorified flip-flops with a heel. They're tall, but it's a wedge heel so I think I'll be alright. I've been wearing them around the house to break them in. I also got sunglasses since mine were old ladyish, and Scarik got a pair of pants, socks, and some t-shirts. We found two cool XXL shirts that will prolly end up going to Adam and Rashid.
It's threatening to rain outside and I hope it does soon.
I had a tasty sammich, yay turkey and swiss.
bleach_wars started today, here's hoping we get more interest soon!

It's pouring out, and I wish I had realized this before I agreed to leave early from work forgoing the pre-offered ride home from my mom. Instead, I got a ride to the train station and then took the train home and walked to the house from the train station. The pro here is I got some exercise, the con was my umbrella (ella, ella, ella) sucked and I still got pretty soaked. Except my hair, that stayed dry.
Scarik is at the hospital today getting the all-important follow-up tests to make sure no signs of the cancer have come back. He gets to endure cats scans and an ultrasound and would have been in no condition to pick me up as the dye for the cat scan always makes him sick. I had arranged to get a ride from my mom but when they offered me VTO I was all over it. Maybe I'll nap now that I have dry clothes on.
Scarik's not home yet, but I'm not sure what time his appointment was so I don't know when to expect him.
I think I want to get back into writing again. I have fun doing one-shots or drabbles but I'm hyper-critical.
bleach_wars should be starting soon, yay!
I'm trying hard not to be a whiner, but there are some things bugging me that might require a new filter for me to get off my chest. Woo.

I noticed something today when doing my usual rundown of MMA blogs and news sights - there are no women blogging about MMA. This is ridiculous to me, as I know quite a few women who enjoy watching the sport and are knowledgeable about athletes involved.
I may need to attempt to rectify this...

I'm home early. They've been doing this thing at work lately where when service levels are going well those with seniority are asked if they want to bugger off early. I was totally down for that. Yay home times!
Today has been pretty cool so far, I managed to set-up a dentist's appointment (yay cleaning), a doctor's appointment (general blah's), and an appointment with the vascular specialist about my right leg (it's still hurting and tender in my lower thigh). I feel very productive, really.
Penny Arcade is awesome. For those of you who don't read it, the webcomic has been around since 11/18/1998 and it constantly riffs on things gaming and movies related. They update Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - and they're one of my favorite things to read online when I need a good chuckle.
I need to get new headphones for my iPod, mine broke because I was stupid and wrapped them around the iPod so the wires wouldn't get in the way in my pocketbook. One day, I will go through my iTunes and delete all the songs I never listen to...and possibly clean out my actual iPod so it only has awesome stuff on it.
TUF tonight, an extra-long episode because it's the last one before the Finals this Saturday! I really love me some fighting, and Forrest Griffin is ttly my sekrit boyfriend.^^ Actually, he's kind of a dork but an awesome fighter, and prolly taken by some hot blonde. A girl can dream though, mainly about Scarik beating him up ^^
...and this slice of randomness has been brought to you by Jill-home-early day!

If you want to play, leave a random not very random comment with the words 'bananas are good', and I will ask you five questions which you will then post the answers to it in your journal, along with these instructions. For further clarification, if you make a post at the end of this entry, I will leave a comment asking you five questions. Take them to your journal and answer them there. Anyone who responds to your entry can be asked five questions by you - including me! 1) How did you meet your significant other, and did you like them right away? I met Scarik through a friend, and I knew we were going to be together within ten minutes. We walked into his house and he was on the phone, flipping all of us off. I waited until he was paying attention and asked the million dollar question - "Is that a threat or a promise?" Needless to say we hit it off
2) What do you do to get comfortable after a long, awful day? I change into more comfy clothing, boot up iTunes, and pick a song that I know will make me smile. Typically this is something by Jonathan Coulton, Code Monkey or Re: Your Brains always works. Sometimes if it's really bad I lay down or go shower.
3) In your own, personal opinion, what really is the worst thing happening in the world today? The fact that people are more concerned over whether a candidates wife plagiarized a cookie recipie instead of advancing ideas to help those who have no food or proper immunizations is upsetting.
4) Since I need a question now that doesn't end in "ay"... uhm... what was your favourite book as a child, and what happened in it? 'The Once and Future King' and it was the story of King Arthur, Merlin, Camelot, and all that.
5) Do you get mad when people play practical jokes on you, or laugh it off? It depends on the joke. I can laugh off a lot but if it's something really sensitive then I get mad. I have a weird sense of humor so sometimes practical jokes backfire on me.

Today was such a shitty day. 3 people called in so we were understaffed and I barely got time to breathe. On top of that I swear every other caller was angry or a douche-bag. And the guy who sits to my left likes to make noise (impressions, singing, drumming on his desk), which is lovely when I have a headache. I was like, one Chinese Food Restaurant worker impression away from throwing my 1.5 liter bottle of water at his head.
So, distractions...

I never said I was a nice person.
I let people know right out the gate I'm an opinionated bitch.
So with that in mind if you read something in this journal you don't and it upsets you then you either shouldn't read or you should understand that my opinion of things will not always be kind and polite.
I don't hate anybody I've met online. I don't see the need to sugarcoat my opinions. I don't see the need to make others do it either. I'd rather people vent in a place where I've already vented my thoughts than to do it all over the place.
I'm not going to make comments on things people have already seen and been upset by, but if it upset you to the point where you feel the need to email me asking me to defriend you or the like it's only going to make me wonder why you're putting that on my head. I have people on my friends list for a certain reason, and if you don't want to be here don't accept the friend request. It's that simple.
With that said I'll be as clear as possible - I really do complain about everyone and everything. Even my own boyfriend, the one person who should be spared from most of this crap. I write what I feel, no matter how badly it might bite me in the ass later.
Consider this the disclaimer, I guess.

Before I get into my evening ogling Jack White's package I just wanted to say that I'm a dork ^^ I was re-reading through an MM thread Eli and I are working on and I was like "Damn, Eli and I are awesome."
Anyway, The Raconteurs show - it was pretty sweet. They played a lot from their new album and absolutely rocked socks. The venue was beautiful, we had a great view of the city across the water and the acoustics were great.
The opening band kinda sucked but their drummer was a spaz. People mainly avoided sitting down in their actual seats until The Raconteurs were getting ready to go on. Jack White is buffer in person, he had jacked arms.
Their set was amazing, every song rocked and there was a playful vibe to all of it. They did a 4 song encore, and except for one slow and trippy song, Blue Veins, it was all good.
Drunk people like my nose, apparently. I say this because at the concert some guy reeking of beer went and like, pat me on the head but also hit my nose, and on the way home some guy went out of his way to walk over to the car, reach in, and poke me in the nose while we sat at a stop light. It was not cool.
Rashid, CJ, and Adam all had fun, as did I. My voice is scratchy but not gone, and I'm pretty tired. I didn't get home until around midnight. I bought a shirt for myself and one for Scarik which he liked, and the cd which is awesome.
I had fun, Jack White wore tight pants. It was beautiful.

Scarik and I have been making some headway on ideas for the game, Bleach + Star Wars ftw!, and we're definitely looking at the game as having a Bleach base. We're starting with the Gotei Sector which contains the Karakura, Hueco Muendo, and Rukongai systems. There could be other sectors in the galaxy, like the Konoha Galaxy or whatever people think of.
We're trying to determine other series people might have an interest in, so please weigh in with your thoughts.
Thanks!
Edit: Depending, unless the series has some clear-cut epic sword-fighting/magic-type system it might be easier for us to adapt a single character. If you have a character in mind you'd like to play, drop me an email at jill.mcshea@gmail.com with a description of how/why you think that character would fit into a Force-sensitive Jedi heavy world and Scarik and I will see how we can convert it.

People seem really taken with the Idea Scarik and I have been tossing around. Tentatively titled Bleach Wars, we figure we can start with Bleach as the base and then adapt other series into it as the need arises.
We're still working out certain details such as what time period in the Star Wars-verse this will take place during (Clone Wars, Rebellion, Post-Rebellion?) but once we have that ironed out everything else will come a lot easier.
Note that this is not something we expect to have up overnight, or even in a week. There is a lot of research needing to be done as far as what species and planets will be around, and considering all that what force traditions other than Jedi and Sith will be present.
At present time we are working on stuff, so thank you for the interest. I'll be keeping people informed. Also, this wiki amuses me.

I was talking to Scarik (my man, for those who dunno) and we began joking around about the idea of Bleach characters in the Star Wars Universe. Darth Ichimaru and Emperor Aizen aside, we realized this could be an awesome idea for a game, one that Scarik would even play in.
As many of you know once I get an idea in mind it grows and I plot - well before this one grows out of control I wanted to gauge interest.
So, how many would possibly be interested in a Multi-fandom (anime/game/manga) game based in the Star Wars Universe, but with no actual Star Wars characters? Your character could be Jedi, Sith, Rebellion, Empire...all you'd need is a basic knowledge of Star Wars and a desire to deal with my fascination for the 'verse.
We figure, if we get interest, people can pick if they're Force Sensitive or not, if they are then if they're Jedi or Sith or Unaligned, what species they'd be (Komamura is so a Wookie, Rangiku could be a Twi'lek, etc.), and if you're Force Sensitive the Mods would determine your power level (Jedi Knight, Master, etc.)
So let me know. I've already started notes on it, so I'm pretty invested if others are. ^^;

This is one of those things.
I have no issue with the fact that fans of My Chemical Romance are marching, but if you click the link to the article on Hannah Bonds, the girl involved, then you'll see how ridiculous it is. The article is all about how bands like MCR drive kids to commit suicide and how all 'emo kids' are suicidal, self-harming, and depressed.
Fuck that - I've been told I'm pretty emo, and I've never cut myself nor have I ever attempted suicide. I'll admit to having thought about it, but thinking and doing are two different things. I talked about my feelings with people who were receptive and listened, and got over myself.
It's obvious from the article that this girl was already somewhat tapped in the head, and her mother didn't help matters. According to the article itself, the girl mentioned on the night of her death that she felt like killing herself, and her mother laughed it off. So seriously, maybe if her mother hadn't scoffed at her and said they'd talk about it in the morning little Hannah Bond would still be with us.
It just really upsets me when parents try to use modern media to cover their own inadequacies as a parent.
